SAHF held their annual Medical and Scientific Advisory Council (MASAC) meeting from the 7th – 9th November in Johannesburg. It was attended by the some of the country’s leading healthcare professionals. The Judy Butler Academic session included both local and international speakers covering topics such as Haemostatic strategies in inhibitor patients and Bleeding disorders in women. Other sessions included local research and development, Haemophilic arthropathy and Von Willebrand disease. We also had officials from the Department of Health who discussed how the upcoming National Health Insurance (NHI) would handle access of medication for rare disorders.
